A chlorination system uses sodium hypochlorite, or chlorine, to disinfect your water. It is very important that the chlorination system be installed properly in order for it to work effectively. The equipment used for the system:
A basic system works as follows: the chemical feed pump injects a chlorine solution from the solution tank thru an injector into the piping before the pressure tank; the feed pump comes on every time the water pump comes on by means of a relay or water meter. The chlorinated water goes into the pressure tank then exits to the retention tank, the water must go to a dedicated retention tank in order to give the chlorine time to disinfect the water. Then if you wish the water may go thru a filtration system to remove the taste and odor of the chlorine.

Sulfur in a glass of water will dissipate out given enough time. This injection unit speeds up this process using Hydrogen Peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide is injected straight into the water lines using a Stenner® chemical feed pump. After this occurs, the freshly introduced hydrogen peroxide will proceed into a 40 to 120 gallon retention tank. The size of the retention tank is dependent on the amount of sulfur in the water. In this tank is where the hydrogen peroxide gets its contact time with the water. The sulfur free water will now feed the entire house! No more rotten egg smell!
Maintenance on the Hydrogen Peroxide Injection Unit is to keep an eye on the hydrogen peroxide level. When it gets low, give Kellner's a call to fill it up!
